Artists-in-Residence

The expanded Artist in Residence programming for the 2022-23 school year was possible due to grants awarded to Lyndale Schools and the generous donations from our community made through the Lyndale PTO.

Last year, the school was able to have artists work with each grade. Each artist that was chosen was decided upon based on their art platform and age level teaching. The school worked with the artists and classroom teachers to try to highlight our students' individual identities. In High 5, our students created a song highlighting their classes. In Kindergarten and first grade the students created puppets in their image. In 2nd grade the students acted out stories that they wrote. In 3rd grade the students created sand mandalas. The 4th grade students dug deeper into their identities and how it's present in different aspects of their lives. The 5th grade students wrote and acted out plays.

Along with the $4,000 given through the Lyndale PTO, once again the school has applied for a grant to ensure every Lyndale student can explore big ideas through art!  We cant wait to see what they do!
